Growing up as a ”hangar brat“, Heather Rider never really considered
becoming a pilot. Oddly enough, that all changed when she moved to
Atlanta, Georgia after high school to become a nanny for an airline
pilot. Upon the urging of her boss, Michele, Heather decided to go for
an intro flight. In a matter of moments as the aircraft took flight,
her future was cemented. Heather went on to graduate from the
University of North Dakota’s John D. Odegard School of Aerospace
Science, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics. Working as a
Lead Flight Instructor for the college, Heather was able to enjoy the
thrill of watching students who had never even been in an airplane
eventually earn their own “wings.” That is what is most exciting for
Heather as she joins the Mooney Family. “I am so excited to let our
customers take the controls and really learn why the Mooney truly is in
a class by itself,” Rider says. “It is almost as if I am giving them
the gift of flight all over again.”
