MOONEY NOW OFFERS COMPLETE INTERIOR REFURBISHMENTS FOR 'J' AND 'K' MODELS
Kerrville, TX--Mooney Airplane Company, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Mooney Aerospace Group, Ltd. (OTC BB: MNYG) has begun offering interior refurbishments for its M20J and M20K models that update the airplanes to a “like new” condition.
“As part of our ongoing efforts to be relevant and responsive, Mooney’s Customer Support team conducted an independent survey of Mooney owners to determine their retrofit requirements. Among the most prominent requests were inputs from Mooney ‘J’ and ‘K’ model owners suggesting the factory provide updated interiors for their airplanes,” said Al Nitchman, Mooney’s vice president of customer support. “The owners of Mooney ‘J’ and ‘K’ model aircraft are generally very satisfied with the performance of their airplanes, and they fly them a lot. That, in turn, has led to some wear and tear on their interiors, so we’ve received a number of requests to help them revitalize their airplanes by updating them from the inside out. I’m pleased to say, that that’s something we could do quite readily, and, as of December, we started offering interior refurbishments for these models through our Factory Service Center,” he added.
Nitchman went on to explain that “it is our goal to make the J & K model interior kits available through the Mooney Service Center (MSC) network. But, before we do so, we have to ensure that our kit development is complete, instructions are properly communicated, and installations are scheduled properly and accomplished on time. To ensure this, an additional three interior kits will be installed at the Factory Service Center. For those ‘J’ and ‘K’ model owners who have an interest in this upgrade, these installations will provide unique savings opportunities since these kits will still receive priority pricing.” He continued by noting that customers interested in having interiors installed in their aircraft as part of the pre-launch process should contact Mike Todd, manager of technical sales at 830.792.2096 or 830.370.6003 (cell) or via e-mail at mtodd@mooney.com.
“During this process we will continue to develop the option packages for the interior kits and these additional pre-launch installations will provide the mechanism to complete this task as well,” he said.
The interior upgrades will bring the “J” and “K” model interiors as close as possible to the current production aircraft interior scheme. Among the highlights:
* The M20J & K interior upgrade consists of new one piece fiberglass panels covered with rich looking Ultraleather.
* The redesigned interior provides the same level of comfort, convenience and appearance found in current production Mooney airplanes.
* The panels won’t become brittle, warp or discolor, as plastic can.
* The new interior panels provide a rounded window look and are installed with fewer fasteners than original Mooney J & K model interiors. This results in easier removal and installation.
* The cabin is quieter in flight.
* The sleek new overhead panel is a cleaner design than the original.
* The overhead panel is equipped with new lighting, air gaspers and oxygen ports if the airplane is equipped with an oxygen system.
* The fire extinguisher is relocated to the spar which provides improved security and ease of access.
* The baggage area is upgraded to current production panels with a timer controlled light that extinguishes automatically.
* The glare shield, carpet and kick panels are new.
* New wind lace is installed around the doors.
* Recovered seats are available as an option.
“Even with all of these new features, attention has been paid to allow the removal of the refurbished interiors for inspection or maintenance with minimal difficulty. The first ‘J’ and ‘K’ models to be redone have already been delivered to customers in Virginia and California,” Nitchman concluded.
