Transition Training Program

FAQ

Mooney International has renewed the Mooney Transition Training Program to provide in-depth training for customers with various experience levels in our current aircraft representations. The program evolved from previously used transitional curriculums, but formatted to improve pilot transition training in the new technically advanced aircraft (TAA).

The Mooney Transition Training was developed using the FAA Industry Training Standards (FITS), which focuses on the redesign of General Aviation Training and whose main purpose is training customers in a scenario-based environment. The FITS program improves the Mooney pilots’ aeronautical decision making, risk management, and single pilot resource management skills without compromising basic stick and rudder skills.

The training is broken down to four basic phases:

1. Academic Training - Mooney
The academic training includes a one day, eight hour classroom based course to familiarize the customer with technical descriptions, limitations, normal, abnormal, and emergency operations of various aircraft systems.

2. Academic Training – G1000
The academic training includes a one day, eight hour classroom based course to familiarize the customer with the operation of the Garmin G1000 Avionics Suite with the use of the full motion FMX Redbird Simulator. Actual flight scenarios are discussed and customers practice Aeronautical Decision Making (DM), Single Pilot Resource Management (SRM) and Situational Awareness (SA).

3. Flight Training
Flight training in the customer’s aircraft is accomplished during five, two-hour scenario-based periods to practice the operations covered during academic training.

4. Course Complete – Requirements Met
